The Youth Mentorship Program was designed to foster Christ- centered and meaningful relationships between younger and older members of Dekike Tsion. By pairing spiritually grounded mentors with youth mentees, the program aims to provide a supportive and learning environment where young adults feel safe, heard, and guided.
Through consistent one-to-one meetings held by each of the mentors, the meetings flowed with judgment-free, open conversations that helped the youth navigate the challenges of their everyday-life while maintaining their relationship with Christ.
The program not only focused on their walk with Christ but also their academic and life goals. The purpose of the mentor is not only to serve as leaders but as trusted individuals who provide guidance and resources for the Mentees to excel. The program emphasizes adults, closer with age, encouraging them to achieve their personal goals. The mentors are expected to build their confidence upon their identity and faith whilst sharing their personal experiences along with wisdom, as well as ask questions to combat any confusion. This mutualistic relationship fosters a culture of trust, respect, and connection within the youth community.
In addition to the mentorship, the program integrates bi-monthly group gatherings such as LIFT “Love In Fellowship and Truth” and actively participates in youth-focused service including volunteering at local soup kitchens to feed the homeless and promoting bigger volunteerism at other non-profit organizations like Feeding America.
Ultimately, the Youth Mentorship Program seeks to invest in the future generations of youth by equipping them with strong values, a well-rounded spiritual foundation, and a supportive community that will guide them well beyond their youth.
