Our Projects

Saint Qusquam Mariam Church Building

In collaboration with Mahber Kidusan, the Dekike Tsion Church Building Project is focused on constructing Saint Qusquam Mariam Church in the Gedeo Region of southern Ethiopia—an area where Christianity is not widely practiced, yet many individuals are embracing the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo faith and receiving baptism.

This church will serve as a spiritual home for more than 300 new believers, providing a dedicated place to worship, grow in faith, and deepen their commitment to Christ. Through teaching, fellowship, and prayer, the church will nurture spiritual growth and help strengthen a growing community of devoted followers.

Blood Drive - ‘Give Back on Binny’s Behalf'

Dekike Tsion Family organized a blood drive in partnership with Inova Health System dedicated to express our gratitude to the Lord for the miraculous recovery of our dear brother Binny from a major illness and a successful organ transplant.

This initiative was held to give thanks for God’s mercy and faithfulness, while also serving the wider community by helping to save lives through blood donation.

This outreach reflects our desire to honor God not only with words but through acts of service and love toward others. We are grateful to all donors and volunteers who participated, making this event a meaningful testimony of faith in action.

Our Monthly Homeless Shelter Feeding Ministry is a living expression of Christian love and service. Each month, dedicated Dekike Tsion volunteers come together to prepare and serve warm meals to approximately 150 individuals experiencing homelessness at Embry Rucker Shelter in Reston, Virginia. Through this ministry, we seek to serve others with humility, kindness, and a heart centered on Christ.

Inspired by the teachings of our Lord in the Gospel of Matthew 25:35, “For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat,” this outreach reflects our calling to care for those in need. Beyond providing nourishment, we aim to share encouragement, compassion, and the message of God’s love with every person we serve.

We kindly invite volunteers, donors, and prayer partners to join this ministry. Together, through faithful service and generosity, we can continue to be the hands and feet of Christ, bringing hope, dignity, and comfort to our neighbors in need.

Monthly Homeless Outreach

A dedicated group of youth came together to pack over 100 food bags in support of Food for Neighbors, an organization committed to addressing hunger among students in local schools.

With hearts of service and compassion, the youth not only prepared the food bags but also delivered them and took part in volunteer activities during the Red Bag Event, helping to sort and organize donated food items. This outreach provided a meaningful opportunity for young people to serve others, demonstrate kindness, and support children in need within the community.

Through this act of service, the youth showed the importance of caring for others and working together to make a positive difference in the lives of those facing food insecurity.
